in an attempt to procrastinate even more, i thought i’d update!

i got to see baby danyel yesterday…she looked so different then she did on wednesday, even more beautiful!  here she is…danyel katherine rokos:

my final is tomorrow (i only have one, thank you experiential education) at 1:30, then a quick wrap lesson for us medics for the walk for darfur, then party with the roomates on whyte ave!  (the party is brought to you by all of our bottles and cans we’ve collected all year long!)

wednesday = calling for shots, writing cheques for PACSE, calling student loans, researching scholarships, cleaning house, and then watching ONCE with jeff.

thursday = cleaning house because my whole family is coming the next day!!!!!  packing, walk for darfur prep.

friday-sunday = hanging out with family…last time till christmas…sad, and checking out the new halvorson hybrid

tuesday-friday = walk for darfur

sunday = MEC gear swap!!  perhaps will find some cheap climbing shoes?!

monday = LEAVE FOR THE YUKON FOR THE SUMMER!!!

naomi, adam and i will be working at mukluk annie’s right outside of teslin this summer.  i am so pumped because i’ve wanted to spend the summer there for the past four years.  sheena and conrad are even going to come and visit this summer (right sheen?) and perhaps jon.  it’s going to be a great summer, one with little responsibilities and a chance to explore a part of canada that i have yet to see… with a new canoe!  it will be a shorter summer for me because i will be heading back to alberta at the end of july and flying to mexico city on july 28th (cullen’s birthday).

i will be in pueblo mexico in a small village called santa lucia till october 3ish, then back to alberta (not sure where yet) to work with a small community organization (perhaps busy bee in tofield?) and work on making a documentary on them.  the purpose of this exchange is to  live, learn and volunteer in rural Mexican and Albertan communities in order to engage in interdisciplinary study of community sustainability.  i am really excited for this opportunity and am excited to get going!

well, that’s about all the new news for me.

oh and we’ve had a blizzard here since saturday.  i like snow, don’t get me wrong…winter is my favorite season, but i am ready for summer conditions!

It said..

“Hey Chel!

I have a daughter!

Her name is Danyel Catherine, she weighs 6 lbs 12 ounces and she was born at 9:06pm.

Have a good night talk to you later!”

I have been waiting a long time to hear that!

I cried.

I got to go visit Dena, Greg, and baby Danyel this morning…before she was even a day old!

I held her for a whole half an hour…she sometimes vibrates…it’s cute.

She is the most beautiful baby I have ever seen! She is perfect!

I will post pictures later.

well, it’s sunday.  the week that i have been looking forward to all year is over.  mixed emotions have followed and procrastination has become me, yet i am refreshed and excited for what God is doing in me and through me.

the african children’s choir was here this week.  choir 30 came here wednesday at 2pm (after having 18 of them fly into calgary that morning from L.A. after being on ellen) and left friday at 11am.

it’s was a crazy week with school work being psycho busy, yet my focus and time being on the choir.  It was weird for them to be here because it meant that all the work i had done and everything i had organized was finally being put into action.  i loved every part of them being here.

the concert was unbelievable.  camrose and area showed such huge and amazing support.  we had 1200 people in our gym and made a beautiful offering for music for life.  i couldn’t have wanted it to go more perfect!

thursday after they were done school we had a pizza party at the climbing wall for all the kids, chaperones, host families, augustana against aids and augustana chaplaincy.  it was so much fun!  i think only three of the boys had done it before so it was a new experience and they were all so good at it!  avey graciously came and took some photos which i am so thankful for!  they are awesome and captured the craziness so perfectly!  thanks so much avey!  here are a few of the shots (i hope that’s okay avey?!).

(okay the rest aren’t loading right now..grrr…i’ll try again later…)

after that i went out for coffee with auntie terese, which was such a blessing!  she told me some pretty crazy stories of tour!  the chaperones of this tour are amazing people and i feel so blessed to have worked with them.

after they all left thursday morning it was back to the books for me!  (lame)  not just books however, also all the holds on our climbing wall!  yesterday we had to go in and do spring cleaning which means every hold must come down, be scrubbed, dry, and put back onto the wall…it’s quite a process.  the supervisors who helped me out on thursday with the choir were still talking about how fun and cute the kids were!

i am so happy the the choir was able to come to camrose and bring our community together to help support such a wonderful organization.  the response that night and as the week has continued has been unbelievable!  thanks to everyone that helped out and came to the show!

for those of you who weren’t there then i recommend you go see them!  yeah regina in three weeks!

well…enough procrastinating…back to the paper writing!
