hot dang it has been a long time! right now i am listening to regina spektor…check her out…she is awesome (preview)!!! so i was trying to post some pics of some ideas i have for a tattoo…but i guess you will all have to wait for that…or click here and see one idea (tattoo). i have more ideas but those will have to wait.
so i am done for the day…no wait till monday…wrote my last midterm yesterday…beautiful! so i am going to bum around here for the next two days doing nothing but catching up on reading and then head to edmonton with amy and stay at jon’s, maybe go to the riders game, then hit up the city and eventually make our way to the means show there…an old prison…hmmmm…weird…then head home sunday…and what we do in between all that is up in the in the air i guess?! any ideas? it’s crazy cuz the next break we get i get to go home hopefully (if i can afford to homework wise) and then the break after that is CHRISTMAS…AH YA!!! the official countdown till christmas is:
60 days, 10 hours, 29 minutes and 58 seconds !!!!!
so what is new…hmmm…i really am not sure…my brain is fried for the next week! but i think i did alright on my exams so i’m feelin good! i started my strength training pac class today…it was all of 7 minutes long…ha i love my prof!!! but it’ll be in the weight room on wednesday…don’t worry…we aren’t huge slackers!
i tried watching a movie last night…hmmm…fell asleep…does that surprise anyone?! then woke up at 6:00am and looked around…what did i see….my roomate passed out (because she was sleepy not drunk!) on her bed and all the lights still on…weird…so i shut them off and went back to bed for 45 minutes!
so last weekend was welcome weekend at clbi…which is my first time going to one…it wasn’t so bad…pretty fun actually! good times with tabby, austen, cat, sam, xeno, jen, dena, greg, tyler, janelle and their baby denae, etc…so i would say my decision to stay here instead of going home was a good choice! make good choices! (thanks tabby for the sweet awkward moments!).
well i wish i had some pictures to share but everytime i try to put one on it doesn’t work….hmmmm! i will keep trying to figure out a way but cut me some slack till then.
have i told anyone how much i want to work in the yukon yet? i doooooooo! k well i am going to go read paddle to the amazon…i love how i ‘have’ to read this book…i love my life! sorry this blog is so lame…when i do anything exciting i’ll let you know…but till then i will be reading..ha?!
i hope everyone is swell…dave comes home in two days…(well by home i mean back to north america). so i am excited to be able talk to him without having uganda hang up on us!
so i think i need new material…even though i love my roberto joke more than anyone…but he’s getting lonely…so if you have a good joke i haven’t heard before than let me know…roberto got really big so i need to follow it’s success with something really good! so give me your best ones!
everyone in camrose come out nov 3rd to the coffee house at augustana…fair trade night!!!! open mike night!!!! pizza!!!! fellowship!!!!!

HI MOM AND DAD!
who can tell it is october?
ewww….ewwww…i can i can!!!
uffda!
well the first crunch time of the year has crept upon me…very sneakily too!
i am back, obviously, from my canoeing trip…it was amazing! i absolutely loved every minute of it and am mad that i have to be back here. when i got back though i had 5 messages from africa…can’t complain about that now can i?! i will post pictures of my trips eventually…maybe…we’ll see?! but i just gotta say that i am so glad i am here taking this program b/c i love it, and i love the atmosphere, and i love my prof, and i love all the oppurtunities…i could go on forever but i will stop there. and now finally i am a supervisor at the climbing wall on campus…got to climb the new purple route yesterday, the day after i got back from my trip…can you say my wrists/shoulders/ankles weren’t quite ready for that…that canoeing takes alot out of you when it’s windy…hott dish! but it was fun…i am hoping to learn more about climbing and get good at it during this year. oh hey…good news…blake isn’t dead for those of you who know him…he is coming to visit this weekend! (k, so maybe i am not the girl he is coming to visit but he is going to pop by my room anyways!).
today has been kind of weird…the only class i had was to debrief my trip, then goodbye earl was on cmt, then i convulsed my way through supper (and by that i mean laugh…with out my button to you camp luther folk), then i watched friends and realized how dumb it really is, then did more homework…
(k i realize now that this day doesn’t seem that weird…but maybe it just feels weird)… anyways it’s just weird!
i get to watch anchorman on thursday…stoked for that! my chill out time for the week is a movie…hmmm…i am lame! but i gotta do it now since i have been wanting to watch it for a long time and i won’t have time in the next 3 weeks…oh joy!
p.s. i wanna go home for a weekend…i miss my family…especially the nephew I DON’T EVEN KNOW!
so this week i have been kind of reevaluating my goals and my principles and my future plans…not in a super significant way…but maybe in just the way i am thinking about them. i am not too sure but i know it’s good…we all need to do that every once in awhile.
so i had a good chat with Gibb in our canoe the other day, (the 76 yr old that came with us who created the outdoor ed program here) about the new paradigm that the church is moving into. he told me about this lutheran author that has wrote a couple books about it…dang i forget his name, but anyways he told me about how this author views a couple of jesus’ miracles…and i don’t know exactly where i stand on some of the things he said but it was kind of a wake up call for me…like God shouting:
“HELLO, HELLO…GEEZ DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET A HOLD OF YOU?! (those norwegians…gosh!) Why couldn’t you here me until now? (Maybe i should use more old people to try to get her attention…it seems to work!). anyways, do you see what i mean now…do you see what i have been trying to get you to see? Chelsea…you need to wake up to me. Chelsea…you need to wake up to others. Chelsea…you need to be open to what i can do. Chelsea…you don’t have to be afraid of change…embrace it…milk it! Who says liberal is a bad word? Use others to learn from…this Gibb guy is exactly the type of person you need to be learning from right now…be open to him…be open to me. a small paradigm shift every once in awhile isn’t a bad thing…change is good…reevaluating is good…take advantage of covey’s lessons…use them…don’t use them…experiment with them. be a movement…be my movement. think differently sometimes…think outside of the box that people put me in…think outside of the box that people put you in. i gave you gifts for a reason…i gave you love for a reason…i am love for a reason. look beyond the fluff…always…don’t settle for what cannot be grabbed with you heart…always question…always wonder…always ask me. talk to me…invite me. Chelsea…i want you to love…i want you to love…i want you to love BECAUSE I LOVE YOU. there comes a time when you have to igore the law and reach whole heartedly for the gospel…for my love. sometimes there will be ideas that you haven’t heard before…that hasn’t been covered in lutheran sermons…be open to them…think about them…discuss them. think about me…discuss me……………………………… is this to long to leave on an answering machine?”
anyways…alot of randomness but that’s just been what i have been chewing through lately.
well i have to get back to the homework…i miss mat kearney.
i hope you are all having a great week…especially kortney! i have been thinking about you lots!
everybody listen to snow patrol…and boilded frogs by alexis.
thanks for the new chris tomlin sheen, and the…um…i forget what the other one is called…but i like it!
here’s october…i can’t wait till it’s over…i can’t wait till christmas!
i miss auntie sandra.
quick question: anyone ever, upon having their prof realize that you are not feeling good, have them say, “may the force be with you”?…what could i do but say, “and also with you”? wait…do i even want the force in this case?…i am confused!
anyways back to ped 290 for me!
yeh for procrastination!
since my life is lame…even though i am clearly not the halvorson loner…i will tell you about my day yesterday…
- started out fabulous, i slept in, honestly we all need a little bit more of that pillow action once in a while, but no worries i was still on time for breakfast…the most important meal of the day!
- went and did some hw in the room then headed to chapel, sang some sweet songs…stared at weird wheat and daydreamed about the part on forest gump where jenny is in the field when she is a kid praying for God to make her “a bird so she can fly far, far, far away from here”.
- then had to ditch earlier with the help of naomi’s bike…which is super short b/c of her short legs, but i have freakin long legs so i honestly looked like an oompa loompa riding this bike down main street with my knees up to my chest! (note to family – bike for christmas – or a canoe!)
- then went canoeing on mirror lake..ah ya…but try doing an eddie turn on mirror lake when it is calm…let’s just say i don’t think the rest of the class really quite grasped this concept yet.
- biked home and headed to lunch after checking out the yearly chem contest in the field…hmmmm…didn’t think that was as exciting to most people as it turns out to be!
- done for the day (ya tell me about it, the only class i had on monday was canoeing…this is what i like!) (unfortunately that will soon change!) so that meant i could have a quick snooze and head off to edmonton.
- tried to snooze…didn’t work…so i did some reading and other hw to get myself ahead of being gone monday night
- headed over to 1st yr res, hopped in a sweet ford explorer and headed to edmonton with 3 guys and 1 girl that i hadn’t ever talked to. (insert awkward jelly belly’s here)
- got dropped off in beaumont, jon picked me up.
- went to his house…saw mike cote…phoned my auntie marilyn.
- 6 oclock (doors open) came and went, still at jon’s…(p.s. how do boys always manage to have longer showers than girls…andrew?)
- headed to the shaw…but first stopping at mcdonalds…sorry amy!
- got to the show…felt super freakin old…never thought i’d see so many boys looking like girls…are those tight pants really that necassary?…i mean there is tight…but that tight seems a little…how do you say…maybe not so beneficial in the long run? and can i just say that i have never seen a boy wear more hairspray than me before…until last night!
- anyways…we soon realized every one over the age of 17 was in the beer gardens so we quickly escaped into this awkward refuge and stayed there pretty much until alexis came out
- so we find some seats…because jon is old you see…so he can’t stand for very long…p.s. i’ll pass on the ear plugs jon..ha ha!
- sat beside a couple guys from a local band..sweet…unfortunately their regina gig this summer fell through…way to go regina…geez!
- so finally, the moment i have been waiting for for a long time…alexis on fire..ah ya!
- i thought it a little funny that they started with the first song on their new disc…maybe not so funny to you…but i get amuzed easily!
- alexis’s biggest show on this tour so far…ya edmonton!
- honestly they tore the house down…(is that even cool to say anymore?) (but they honestly did!)
- sheena txt me and told me to give mr. green a kiss for her…so me and jon gave her heck b/c in case you don’t know she is married…bad sheena!
- a few nose bleeds and sprained wrists later they sing their first single off crisis and those tight pant 12 year old boys lost it!
- anyways show was great…(over at 11…kind of lame), found my ride right outside the ladies washroom…how convenient…just like milk to go.
- said goodbye to jon, hoped in the explorer…then to macs…got my coffee…drank it…started dosing off in the car, woke up and yelled dear!!!…turns out it was only a crack in the window…could i be more of a dork with ppl i don’t know?!
- got home…wiped out on my bed…hello 7:30 breakfast!
so maybe you don’t think that day is pretty exciting…but i sure did! you can’t get better than canoeing, alexis and yelling dear out for no reason!
well i am off to anatomy…baby skulls in the forecast for today. i am off in two days for canoeing…rumor has it the weather will be hot!…ah ya!
quick shout out to my mom…and wanda…hellooooo ladies!
for those of you who don’t know dave is in uganda right now…so please keep him and his new choir in your prayers.
thanks…ciao for now!
