well i am back…yeh for missed coffee! the trip was great…burned my face a bit b/c the weather was amazing! the first day we spent 7 hours hiking to base camp (otherwise known as the ‘frying pan’) with our packs…nice and scenic…once we got there we dropped our stuff off and headed back out a ways to pick up our 2 large canoe barrels full of water (much heavier than our packs). i carried one on my back in my backpack for most of the way back to camp…until i fell into the creek that turns out is a lot deeper than any of us expected! but i needed a cool down anyways so once we got to camp we got to set up and have supper and then met back up and played some sweet games! the first night was incredibly warm. as i was falling asleep i heard something…what it was i wasn’t sure…something not familiar to this area…could it be…no it couldn’t…but i think it is…it’s a waterbuffalo…!
turns out it was only one of the girls snoring…but never in my life have i heard a snore like that…it was amazing! i woke up in the middle of the night thinking i was going to pass out b/c i was so hot…so out with the hot nalgene and down to my skinnies…the rest of the night was perfect! so the next two days were filled with orienteering lessons and practice. let me tell you…i thought i had a bad sense of direction…but those two days really proved to me that i am incredibly directionally challenged! anyways we went to the the donalda coolees…here is a picture of donalda’s lamp…the biggest lamp in the world…and i recommend you check out the lamp museum too!
the last night we had a community dinner filled with mac and cheese, some curry peanut/coconut chicken and rice, and some amazing coos coos…and too top it off bannock on a stick! can u believe that me and the other sask. girl were the only ones that had had bannock before…unreal! anyways, so yesterday we had to find ourselves back…good times with sarah, simran and jon…the perfect lunch spot on an amazing plateau with a perfect view…then met up with the other group and finished it off together. it was an awesome trip with sweet memories and i am so excited to leave on the canoe trip next thursday! we watched a video in class today about eddies and ferries…who’s excited?!?!?!
well i must hit the books, have alot to do before the weekend! i hope everyone had a great weekend! AND i hope that if anyone is perhaps going to uganda tomorrow that they have a sweet as time and take lots of pictures!
well…who’s excited…2 days till i leave on my first trip…i’m pumped! although it is a basic hiking/orientering trip i am still stoked to be finally getting outside. we were assigned our teams today and went over meal plans etc…i love dried apricots…but not with jon huebner! hey if anyone wants to see what i get to do for homework tonight go to this link…oh so exciting!
so since i am now in the ’spam’ club here at augustana…which is their enviromental awareness club, i thought i’d share the eco tip of the day:
Follow the five R’sReduce, Reuse, Recycle, Refuse, and Respond
Exhaust each option before moving to the next.
simple yet overlooked!
and a campers tip for the day…don’t forget the 7 LNP principles…check it out here!
and a reminder that augustana against aids meets every thursday at 6…don’t be late!
spam meets tuesday at 6…all 7 of us!
chaplin kids program wednesday at 8.
and wall climbing thursday at 6.
(hmmmm some overlapping i see)
anyways…i’m really pumped for all of this to be starting and to be taking a step to help out…even in such a small way. hopefully it will lead into greater possibilities!
(2 posts in one day, i know that is lame catherine but sometimes a person just has to do what they have to do).
but i gotta go do more homework before the sleep attacks me again. i recommend reading the seven habits of highly effective people if you are trying to fall asleep and can’t…good stuff but just so dry once 10 pm hits.
for anyone who reads my blog…especially those who know my sister and her husband…maybe even those of you who don’t…can you please help me in my pursuit to get them back into the blogging world. as some of you may know i am an auntie now to a little babe named moses. unfortunately i am, once again as previously stated, missing his childhood. because of this i am feeling really crumbing and need some pictures of this new addition. my idea…since sheena forgot her blogspot password…is, with your help, to let her know how much we want her to start a new blog…(even if you don’t want her to…say if for whatever reason you don’t like hearing from her in which case i will personally come over there and kick you in the coccyx bone…please comment anyways!). so if you can would you mind adding a little comment so that sheena gets super annoyed and thinks it would be in her best interest to start a new. beautiful…thanks for your help!
p.s. the elderly are so cute in this town…and so is their baking!
can anyone tell me how to put a picture of penny lane on my blog…not just as a picture but like nooksacks soccer fans…nooksack? how do u do it?
and it is 9 months til my birthday!
well well well…sorry it has been too long! i am finally settled at augustana…i think i am really liking it…and i am sure as time go by i will for sure like it. it was a rough start b/c as you all know i am super awkward at times especially when i am meeting new people…umm…there i was meeting a hundred new ppl…oh dear…so i kinda stopped and am just hanging low for a while. so i am actually at clbi right now…and last night i was here too…pathetic?…probably…but i had a sleepover with shannon last night and with catherine tonight…yehhhh!!!! anyways…8 more hours working at the climbing wall at augustana and i will be a paid supervisor…sweet deal…even though it is only 4-6 hrs a week…but it is better than nothing! on saturday i am going on my first out trip…good thing i left most of my stuff at home…idiot i know…and then i am off on my second out trip on thanksgiving weekend…stinky…no regina for thanksgiving for me…boo…so that means the next time i will see moses he will be huge…oh dear…i am totally missing his childhood. (dang why do i never finish my sentences!). anyways, what else is new…tried to go to underoath tonight in edmonton but it didn’t work out…but plans are being put together already for me and jon and maybe trevor to go to alexis on fire oct 2nd…i am so excited! i bought more coffee today…a big bucket too!…(and no, it’s not a bucket like my chin bucket)…and it was sooo cheap! it’s been raining for 5 days now…which means the ravine bridge that i walk on 10 times a day is really slippery…makes for some pretty embarrassing stories! dave leaves for uganda in two weeks to pick up the new choir…and cat just told me that the african childrens choir is singing on canadian idol tomorrow night…could it be…too bad you are in scotland dave?! canadian idol party in my room…be sure to wear your t-shirts! anyways i think that is pretty much everything that is new. hi dad! thanks for mailing me my stuff mom! happy wedding jules!!!!!!…i am sorry i missed it…i’ll come visit at christmas! all right i am outty…hello 7-11 where’s my coffee? hope you all are having a sweet september…soon it will be october…and what does that mean? could it be halloween? maybe. cornicopia? maybe. canoe trip? maybe. midterms? maybe. (or maybe not on that one). anyways i’m off! ciao!
well i am off, just a couple hours left and i decided i should blog about my favorite movie…one: cuz i am bored and two: b/c it has been far too long since i have seen it. it’s almost famous and for those of you who haven’t seen it you should be ashamed…go see it now…and for those of you who have seen it, it should be among your top five movies of all time. i am in quite the picture mood right now so i am just going to post some pictures from the movie…hopefully they will get you in the mood for watching it!!!
#1 highlight of my summer:

anyways…ichiro’s bum aside…i had an awesome summer. it was stretching in every way possible…but definately an amazing summer due to the amazing staff we had. i just can’t stop bragging about them! i am off to camrose in 15 hours, and headed to a ben lee show in 1.5 hours…pretty excited! don’t have much to update on since it’s been sooo long since i actually wrote something…(that makes sense in my head). the big hype in regina right now: rolling stones are here thanksgiving weekend…wahoo?! anyways…family supper then off to the show. i will have alot of time to blog next week b/c i am going to school a week before classes actually start…lame-o! oh and if anyone in the camrose area has an extra coffee maker that they would be willing to lend to me that would be awesome! well…have fun on your trip retro! i’m outtie! so long regina!
